Welcome to 3583 Bytes

3583 Bytes is an independent game studio based in Calgary, Alberta, creating games that are approachable, rewarding, and built to last.
Founded in 2012 by Adam Berent, 3583 Bytes is best known for Train Sim, along with other long-running titles including Dinosaur Sim and 3 Jewels.
We focus on accessible simulation, creative play, and long-running game experiences that keep getting better through steady updates and player feedback. Over the last year alone, Train Sim received 9 official releases, alongside many beta updates and behind-the-scenes improvements.
Best Known for Train Sim
Train Sim is the studio’s flagship title and the clearest example of how we like to build games. It is designed to be easy to pick up, satisfying to come back to, and flexible enough to support both relaxed play and deeper experimentation. Over time, Train Sim has grown through new content, feature improvements, technical cleanup, and direct player feedback.

How We Build
3583 Bytes is a small indie game developer, and community feedback plays an important role in shaping our games.
Many of the improvements, bug fixes, and new ideas that make their way into our games start as suggestions from players. Whether you have found a bug, want to suggest a feature, or just want to chat about trains and game development, we would love to hear from you.

What does 3583 Bytes Mean?
3583 Bytes was the amount of free program memory available on the VIC-20, an early 1980s home computer.
It is enough to hold about a page of text, yet that machine still inspired creativity and memorable games. For us, the name is a reminder of how quickly technology changes, and how much can still be built with limited resources.
