Open Source Projects

Open-source projects, tools, and experiments from 3583 Bytes.

Alongside our games, 3583 Bytes also publishes a small collection of open-source software projects.

These projects reflect the technical side of the studio: game systems, engine work, developer tooling, and experiments that are useful beyond a single title. They are not the main focus of 3583 Bytes, but they are part of how we build, learn, and share what we make.

If you are a developer, hobbyist, or technically curious player, this is where you can explore the open-source work behind the studio.

Moonforge RPG Engine
Moonforge RPG Engine is an open-source C# engine for building turn-based RPGs. It includes systems for combat, quests, inventory, dialogue, save/load, and more, with a focus on practical game-development workflows and reusable architecture.

Why We Share These Projects

3583 Bytes is first and foremost an indie game developer. Open-source projects are a smaller part of what we do, but they matter because they show another side of the work: building reusable systems, exploring ideas, and sharing tools that may be useful to other developers.

They also help document the broader technical work behind the studio, from game systems and engine design to smaller tools and experiments.
